Getting started with Beier Modules (1 Connections)

I get a lot of feedback on the Beier systems mainly saying that they are difficult to understand and dont work for people, so I have decided to have a bash at dispelling that idea.

There are 3 main units and an infra red trailer unit. I will deal with the 3 main units first. All 3 have two power connections. The first is 5 volts for the logic. For the USM-RC-2 that is supplied from the ESC via the receiver, and the UFR1230 and SFR1 have onboard voltage regulators which supply the 5 volts to the unit AND to the Receiver.

Choosing a Radio set

Hi all, I hope this is not teaching my mother, and is useful to new guys. Its my opinion but it works for me!

1. For it to do everything you want then you probably need a 4 channel set. If you have an MFU then it is 4 channel minimum. It is well worth sitting down and figuring out what you want the truck to do and then looking for the number of channels that will let you do that. If you have switched channels then 3 way switches are best - but with most sets there are ways to make 2 ways work. This is an important decision that will affect, enable and/or limit you in future. Please feel free to ask anyone on here for advice.

Servos and trucks

Servos seems a little of an odd subject but for their size they, and there associated parts, do seem to cause an inordinate number of problems! So its time to examine some of those and but some of the problems to bed.

Tamiya Trucks

Tamiya provide 1/14th scale truck kits for a number of US and European style trucks. The European trucks are generally available as either 4x2 or a 6x4 versions. US trucks are all 6x4 versions. what does that mean? well the first digit denotes the number of wheels on the truck and the second the number that provide drive. Drive wheels are all double width standard road wheels but come as a module. Tamiya also provide upgrades to the trucks but more later. The kits come with plain bearings and a standard 27 turn silver can motor plus all the "truck" parts. You will need to provide the radio( transmitter, receiver, 2 standard servo, speed controller) and a battery.
